Why is the message “No Kings”…We need a “PRO democracy movement. We need an American Revolution…we haven’t had one. It was just two groups of white elites squabbling over the profits of genocide and slavery.
We are being entertained to death while the powers that be build the cages meant for us and pick our pockets clean. There is a place for catharsis which No Kings surely is but it also lets people know that they aren't alone. Especially in smaller venues, NK protests lets people know that their neighbors are perhaps with them, opening the potential for networking and direct action, maybe gets them out of flight, fawn and freeze into fight mode in positive and effective ways. I found our Visibility Brigade through No Kings. We remind folks on their Saturday outings that someone is paying attention. As long as the profit motive runs our nations institutions and governments and those people in it, we are sunk.
I don't know why or how I'm suddenly on Pete Buttigieg's email list, but he emailed today with the subject line "I just went on Fox News" and the text: "I'm fresh off another interview on Fox News. Not because it was comfortable. Not because [etc. etc.]...I did it because I believe showing up matters. If we want a politics that actually delivers for people, we can’t only talk to those who already agree with us. We have to be willing to go everywhere..."
What?! Excuse me? As if going on Fox News is somehow revolutionary? As if it counts as having a "conversation"?

Wearing silly costumes and walking around like it's a nice way to spend a Saturday was never going to bother them in the least. Since then they, the admin, have escalated their agenda. Building for-profit prisons. Do you really believe they are doing that solely to hold illegal immigrants? These prisons will be for YOU. They've already started calling anybody that disagrees with them "anti-American" soon you will be designated the real terrorists. You will be locked into those cages. If you argue or protest against being taken, you will be shot and killed on sight! That will help install the fear.
