I am outraged as well. But where oh where is the outrage on college campuses as they showed for GAZA? This is their own country. They protested protected by our 1st Amendment which is now under attack. So where are the students? Where is their outrage over rule by a Mad King? The construction of concentration camps over the US with crematoria for the dead bodies since they are no longer providing the detainees with medical care? Sound familiar???
That was the other benefit of going after the students when they protested for Gaza. Administrators and lawmakers made it clear they would not hesitate to sick the police on them and crack their skulls and then expel them with prejudice.
I agree that we need more than just voting. And I've been studying successful anti-fascist movements. I agree we have to wake people up but what does revolution look like? Without an opposition party, how do we organize successfully for that kind of change? I've been looking at the Otpor movement.
Yes, I would love to hear Jared expound more on what our revolution should/may look like. His answer in last mailbag was that a large, sustained “revolution” is needed. What will that look like?
Yes, they are who we’ve thought they were. It all has to come down like the East Wing has…into rubble. It will be good to watch in February as Pam Bondi is questioned by Congress about her handling of Epstein files (EF), knowing that Ellie Leonard, Zev Shalev & others are preceding that questioning with presentation of a portfolio of their EF research/findings to Congresspeople.
I'm very sorry to hear about the tragedy in your family. I've been speaking a lot with a friend who grew up in a very alcoholic environment due to generational abuse. While we're East Coasters, we come from similar working-class/working-poor backgrounds. He's hit that point where, despite being sober for many years, all the maladaptive behaviors he learned to survive are now harming him.
Listening to you and Danielle keeps me grounded in the fact that we can get better. We can experience joy. We can care for each other. I look forward to this every week, even when it seems very bleak.
I am soooo slow….all that time I was disdainfully (and logically) dismissing the qanon conspiracy theories concerning pedo-centric crime rings as lurid, wackjob fever dreams oozing out from the low info swamp…. And here we are, seeing far worse versions of those completely debased, hellish narratives validated on an ever expanding scale. American exceptionalism alright.
I absolutely agree with you the children they are snatching are being sexually abused and trafficked. Remember those girls that were disappeared during his first term and moved around in the dead of night, and never returned? I also believe Sascha Riley.
such a great check-in - thank you both. it really helps to see my reactions are normal and should be the norm. anyone not upset about all this is just not paying attention.
So right, Kelleyberg. To my family who doesn’t follow the news much, I sound like a crazy person this week because THIS SHIT IS CRAZY. Turns out QAnon had it basically right, just a few of the details wrong—esp. the main characters! How do we deal with knowing that the most powerful men in the world in tech, government, business, academia rape kids, kill them, and some even cannibalize them????
We really want to convey our condolences on your family tragedy.
No one digs into and susses out this fugly stuff like you do. Your perceptions are unique (unfortunately) and on-target. We've not seen you miss.
We're sure we speak for many when we say that you are so appreciated and loved for who you are and what you are doing.
Thank you for this kindness. I can't tell you what it means to me.

I love these two together. As brutal as it is I need to hear the truth and Dear God I hope all are listening.

How do we cultivate the emotional and cognitive capacity to face all this?
How do we stare into the darkness, like Danielle speaks of, and yet stay loving human beings?
Somehow we have to develop the capacity to confront and live w the horrific, and yet, be able to be moved by what is still good, and tender.

Nixon’s admnistration, under the advisement of Daniel P. Moynihan, were organising introducing a UBI. Until Watergate intervened.
