After former president Donald Trump said on Truth Social that he expected to be indicted there was a marked uptick in harassment and threats. For years they were pretty constant, starting with my original reportage from Trump’s rallies in 2016, and the resulting media firestorm, and it came to be such a regular occurrence that I grew used to it, even as supporters showed up at my house in the middle of the night or attempted to break in. Looking back, it was a nightmare I never expected to wake from.
