Thank you for this. I live ten minutes as the crow flies from Highland Park, the Mayberry of Chicago. I know that community and downtown area well. The devastation is devastating.
I am enraged by the semi-local and national media and the gun industry for pointing to blue state gun restrictions as if the common denominator isn't 100% the guns. And right on cue, the ones who pointed to the shooter's disguise (as a woman) to attack the trans community, AS IF. No alleged here -- he confessed to everything and while I'm not religious, I hope he enjoys hell.
Artists often use graphic imagery as part of their practice. I hope never to be in the position to decide, but at this point, I think people have to see what these high-powered weapons do. (And yes, that's complicated, too -- there are some who enjoy that kind of thing). We are a largely blue area, but there are plenty who hold their nose and vote Republican for the tax cuts alone. I don't see that changing until we start getting real fucking real.
If there ever was a white man that should be replaced it is Tucker Carlson. His smug, privileged attitude enabled by the TV dinners of the 1950s, that he glorifies, puts himself so out of touch with reality it is only accepted by incels, evangelicals and others in an alternate universe.
