I feel like I live in an alternate universe where all day while working nothing horrible is happening, no one talks about it, then bam, at 5pm, it all comes crashing in.
The counter-balance, I'm thinking, seems like a shadow government that speaks up daily, reliably, speaking to the day's events voicing what an Administration has done and bills that could pass and programs protected - that this is what an administration does who thinks government can be good and we have an amazing opportunity, though, fleeting, to continue to build a strong middle class, here.
From a paid subscriber- I’m interested in your thoughts but I’ll tell you I am very low dosage on political audio right now so if you are able to post a transcript that would be a huge help. Otherwise, I continue to appreciate the written posts, thank you.
Okay, I was thinking, how 'bout we do a strategically timed online strike against one of the tech broligarchs as warm up? We strike by staying off all M*eta social media platforms for 24 hours beginning at midnight on Sunday, February 9, S*per B*wl Sunday, which is a high engagement day when the price of ads are jacked way up. But if there are fewer of us on there to scroll past them, click on them, buy from them, Z*ck makes less (potentially much less) and advertisers will be really pissed off and less confident in spending their dollars there in the future. The reason I call this a strike and not a boycott is because Z earns money off our unpaid labor of scrolls, clicks, likes, posts, replies, and buys. So we don't show up for "work" that day and use our numbers and his exploitive technology against him to hit him in the wallet and strike for an overhaul of manipulative algorithms, stronger community guidelines, and to send him a message that he isn't as all-powerful over us as he thinks. As a bonus, our international friends and allies can easily join this strike too, and there are opportunities to do this every month on other strategic days.
Also, the people posting nazi stickers on cybertrucks as a prank reminded me of something. Gumming up the works is a strategy that can run the gamut from micro-aggressions to large scale sabotage and I feel like these fascists need to feel beleaguered and annoyed every waking moment. Let's figure out ways to keep them busy and flustered and undermined. There are many, many ways to be covertly annoying at minimal risk to the provocateur.
I can’t sleep more than 2-3 hours so I read or listen. I am doing all of these things. I didn’t before because I was scared. I’m still scared but I won’t be silent anymore. Your voice is soothing. Maybe I can sleep now. Take care.
I created an escape plan from my red state a year ago and almost everyone I knew (including myself, to be honest), thought I was overreacting. Now everybody's panicked and scrambling and I wish I'd put my plan into place a year earlier because I'm still living in the belly of the beast and OMG. You're just never ready for this.

Hang in there, friend. You are necessary to the cause. Take care of yourself. Go to a meeting, call a friend. Do not try to do it alone.
