Well stated. In my studies in Occupational Safety, I did learn about all of the struggles labor won culminating in the OSH Act of 1970. At the time it seemed like settled history, but over the last 10 years it has become more and more apparent that it is part of the struggle that every couple of generations must deal with, just like our democracy. Thank you for this thought provoking essay.
Couldn't agree more. The rollback of these hard fought gains for decency is disturbing, hence the elites desire to water down real, effective education. Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" deserves to be a textbook.

Nice talk (as usual). Thank you for sharing your thinking, Jared. Heather Cox Richardson synopsizes some of the early labor history to which you allude in today's "Letter"— https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/september-1-2024.
