Let’s try something a little different.
This week I’m going to record an audio Q&A for subscribers. For those of you who have seen my Bourbon Talks, this will be a lot like those. Hell, I might even open a bottle or two.
I’m planning on getting into the developing crisis in Ukraine, discussing my recent article about this malleable moment and future possibilities, Russian aggression and the ideology behind this whole debacle, and how the GOP/Right Wing in America represents a potentially catastrophic fifth column that puts all of us in danger.
Any questions about these topics, and anything else that might cross your mind, simply reply to this post and plan on tuning in when the first episode of AUDIO FROM A COLLAPSING STATE drops.
I might be too late, but wanted to post my question anyway: Can you talk about the link between what Putin is doing in Ukraine & the threatened sanctions? As I understand it, sanctions are only as effective as their implementation. With so much dirty Russian money in banking and real estate, can/will sanctions be effective? Are there domestic lobbies/groups that would not oppose the idea of sanctions, but oppose the impact on their economic sector? Would this be enough to tip the balance?
There is talk of splitting up Ukraine to appease Putin's power play. I don't think we have to discuss the dangers of doing this in terms of validating his show of his strength and the west's weakness, but do you have any sense of how something like this would affect the global economy or global political alignment? Ukraine is kind of a big deal when it comes to providing resources, specifically to Europe, so this seems more than a little worrisome.
