I might be too late, but wanted to post my question anyway: Can you talk about the link between what Putin is doing in Ukraine & the threatened sanctions? As I understand it, sanctions are only as effective as their implementation. With so much dirty Russian money in banking and real estate, can/will sanctions be effective? Are there domestic lobbies/groups that would not oppose the idea of sanctions, but oppose the impact on their economic sector? Would this be enough to tip the balance?

There is talk of splitting up Ukraine to appease Putin's power play. I don't think we have to discuss the dangers of doing this in terms of validating his show of his strength and the west's weakness, but do you have any sense of how something like this would affect the global economy or global political alignment? Ukraine is kind of a big deal when it comes to providing resources, specifically to Europe, so this seems more than a little worrisome.

Can you talk about the mass shooting in Portland (Oregon) that happened Saturday night? Portland Police keep referring to the mass shooter as a "home owner" - but might that be code-speak for "a cop we are protecting"? And last summer Portland's Mayor Ted Wheeler flat out asked "concerned citizens" to "make protesting uncomfortable". From what I gather from friends who were on the scene last night - most, if not all, of the gunshot victims were women of color redirecting (corking) traffic to allow a peaceful march. I'm shocked/not-shocked that it's not national news.
