Really wonderful conversation Jared. I've been thinking about my father this Christmas and his experience 80 years ago fighting Germans in the bitter cold Battle of the Bulge. How did he survive that, not only physically, but mentally. He had a sense of hope in tough times and a "never give up" attitude. I'm currently reading a book called "The Resilience Myth: New thinking on grit, strength, and growth after trauma." The author, Soraya Chemaly, talks about the importance of interconnectedness and the reintegration with others. I highly recommend it. Merry Christmas and a hopeful New Year.

I'm listening to your talk, Jared, a little late. I thought that, after we lost the election, everything was 'over,' but I've been surprised to find myself understanding that the battle is just now beginning in earnest.

I'm encouraged to see your continued emphasis on personal grounding. I'm also anxious for the larger movement to coalesce and take off, but I know it will not happen on my timetable ;-)

Like Deborah, and your references to Sartre, I find hope (and patience) in writings on and from the WW2 era -- the stories can be horrific, but knowing the outcome gives me hope for our battles.

See you on the barricades (my mantra ;-)
